How About a Little Sun on the Beach?
Go to the beach! In most places, the beach is a fun, free and healthy activity for the whole family. We now know that too much time in the sun isn't good for us, but as long as you put sunscreen on and stay hydrated, there are other health benefits to being at the beach.
Despite the warnings, some sun is good for you. Sunlight activates vitamin D in your body and helps to alleviate depression - especially for people with seasonal depression.
Walking on the beach is good for you because the shiftiness of the sand helps to work out muscles that you didn't even know that you had! You'll get the most from the sand if you walk or run barefoot.
Swimming in the ocean, of course, is also a free exercises with major health benefits. Swimming gets you in great shape without putting any strain on your joints or feet. The salt water is also great for healing any aches or pains, just watch out for sharks!
The beach will also give you the opportunity to relax and be with your family and friends - both of which are great for your mental health and stress levels.
The ocean waves release negative ions, which brings you the freshest air around. Positive ions are ions that are generated from pollutants like smoke and exhaust. Negative ions are ions which are generated from plants, lakes and the ocean! Because of modern day technology, there is a great imbalance between negative and positive ions, so the more you can be around negative ions (i.e. at the beach), the better!
